PlayStation 4 Hits 30 Million Consoles Sold Globally

Sony have announced that the PlayStation 4 has sold 30.2 million units worldwide as of November 22nd. This is a very impressive feat in the two years since the console launched. The console is the fastest selling PlayStation system of all time. It has sold more units in the same timeframe than the PlayStation 2.

“We are sincerely grateful that gamers across the globe have continued to choose PS4 as the best place to play since launch two years ago,” said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. “We are committed to bringing engaging games and entertainment services to users worldwide. Thanks to the support of our partners, PS4 continues to be the premier platform for game and interactive entertainment innovation.”

Despite the lack of exclusives going into the Christmas season, the marketing deals with third party studios provide a wide array of bundle for newcomers. This coupled with the recent price drop makes the PlayStation 4 a very appealing choice when compared to the competition.

The continued success will certainly be a boon for owners of the console. 2016 is looking to be the best year yet for the console with a wide array of exclusive titles to look forward to. It will be interesting to see how long this momentum goes on for.
