Nioh Re-revealed As PlayStation 4 Exclusive
After nearly 10 years of silence, Nioh has finally resurfaced as a PlayStation 4 title. The game was originally slated to be a launch title for the PS3. After Koei missed the PS3 launch they insisted the game was still coming. I doubt anyone thought we’d be seeing it again 10 years later. Since every other title in limbo has been announced for PS4 this year, I guess we should expect an Agent announcement next.
The game looks to be a slow methodical third person action title. The combat looks to be somewhat of a mix between Dark Souls and Onimusha. If it plays like those titles then we’re definitely in for a treat. The game was initially based on an unfinished script by Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa. It is unclear if this will still be the case as the game may have been retooled in the last decade. The game was supposed to have a companion film named Oni released alongside it. However, plans to make the film fell apart at some point after Nioh was announced.
Nioh will be coming to PlayStation 4 at some point in 2016. Team Ninja will be handling development duties, having taken over development from Koei themselves. Next year is looking quite promising for PlayStation 4 owners, with a huge number of third party exclusives (such as this) coming to the console.
