PlayStation TV gets Official Price Drop

Sony have dropped the price of the PlayStation TV. The micro-console will now retail from £44.99/€59.99 . This move could be seen as a reaction to the lackluster response to the console since its release late last year. With that being said, for such a tiny device, it really packs in a lot of features.

The PlayStation TV is essentially a PSVita disguised as a micro-console, it even retails under the name Vita TV in Japan. The device allows you to natively play PS1, PSP and select PSVita titles on your TV, the perfect solution if you prefer to game on a big screen rather than a handheld. It also allows you to stream your PS4 gameplay to another TV. If someone was using the main TV you could pop on your PS4, go to a different room, hook up the PlayStation TV and stream your gameplay right there, even if the title runs at 60fps. Obviously your internet speed plays a large part in this, but for its new price the PlayStation TV is certainly a decent option for people who have to share a television. The device also allows the use of either a Dual Shock 3 or a Dual Shock 4 controller, which ever one you prefer to use.

If you don’t have a PS Vita already and you’re subscribing to PlayStation Plus you should do yourself a favour and pick one of these up. The quality of the games Sony has made available on the service so far is nothing short of stellar, the Vita has some fantastic games and it’s a shame to miss out on them. This coupled with the fact that you can play PS1 classics and PSP games on the device serves to give it added value. The PlayStation TV should be available at its new price from all retailers now.
