Star Wars Battlefront Information Blowout

EA have revealed a ton of new info for the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront reboot. The trailer above, while not showing off gameplay was in-engine footage, using in-game assets. It will also run at 60fps on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The title will be set during the events of the original trilogy of films. Per reports, the title will not have a traditional campaign, but will have ‘spec ops’ style missions featuring bots, which will be playable offline and with 2-player splitscreen (this will drop the framerate to 30fps). The online multiplayer will range from 8-40 players dependent on mode selected. All of the launch maps will be set on the planets Hoth, Endor, Tatooine and Sullust. There will be at least 2 maps per planet at launch

You will be able to play in both first person and third person, and you will be able to swap between the two on the fly. Vehicles will be available for the players to use, however there will be no space battles in this title. There will only be aerial dogfights within a planets atmosphere.

Like the previous Star Wars Battlefront titles, this one will feature playable heroes, only Darth Vader and Bobba Fett have been confirmed so far. You will also be able to unlock hero vehicles, such as the Millennium Falcon. The requirements to use these heroes and hero vehicles will vary dependent on what game mode you are in.

EA also announced The Force Awakens tie-in DLC. It will be called “Battle of Jakku”, and it will be free to all owners of the game. If you pre-order Battlefront you will get the DLC December 1st, but it will be available to all players on December 8th.

Personally I’m quite excited to see what DICE can do for this franchise. The first time I played a Battlefront title was quite recently, per a friends suggestion, and I thought it was great. Hopefully this new entry in the franchise can live up to the lofty expectations that previous fans of the series will have.

Star Wars Battlefront will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC on November 17th in the US and November 19th in the EU. There will be a deluxe version available for pre-order that includes instant access to future in-game items and exclusive emotes.
