Halo 5 Guardians Release Date Announced

Microsoft have announced that Halo 5 Guardians will release October 27th 2015. They unveiled the date last night in a pair of live action trailers. Personally I didn’t think the game would be ready for release this year considering the feedback I have heard regarding the beta. In addition to that the Master Chief collection has remained somewhat broken for quite some time. A release this year seems rushed, especially since they are gunning for a solid 60fps.

The trailers released show each of the playable characters Master Chief and Locke walking towards the other who has been shot. The trailers both contain the tagline Hunt for Truth so there seems to be an element of misdirection in these videos. I imagine we’ll get more info come E3 at the very latest.

Releasing late October is not without its risks though. It places the title close to the presumed launches of Call of Duty Black Ops 3 (unconfirmed, but heavily rumoured) and Star Wars Battlefront (essentially this years Battlefield title). It may be difficult for Halo to stand out against such multiplatform juggernauts. The Black Ops titles are currently the most popular Call of Duty titles and players have been waiting years for a new Battlefront game. As always though things inevitably get delayed, so Halo could have a solid time frame to do well, or get delayed itself.
