Titanfall 2 Officially Unveiled at EA Play

Even though most of the footage from this reveal has leaked prior to tonight, this is the first official look that EA have given us of Titanfall 2. Let’s begin with the main takeaway here. Titanfall 2 has a single player campaign. We’re glad to see this as the multiplayer campaign in the first Titanfall left a lot to be desired. The footage seems to characterize the Titan’s themselves as AI who can make choices. This goes a long way to fleshing out what were previously just giant robots. EA have description of the campaign which tells us:

Pilot and Titan unite as never before in Respawn Entertainment’s highly anticipated Titanfall 2. Featuring a crafted single player campaign that explores the unique bond between man and machine, players will step on to The Frontier as a Militia rifleman with aspirations of becoming a Pilot. Stranded behind IMC enemy lines, and against overwhelming odds, you must team up with a veteran Vanguard-class Titan and uphold a mission you were never meant to carry out.

The multiplayer was also shown off in a short video which you can see below. The game looks to retain the same speed and craziness that made the original fun to play. The gameplay also looks like it was have a new dynamic thanks to the addition of a grappling hook. This enables players to zip around the map and destroy their opponents in even more unique ways.

As expected, Titanfall 2 will bring the franchise to the PS4 for the first time. The game will launch October 28th on Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4. This date is curious though, as it puts the game smack between Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty Infinite Warfare. Hopefully this isn’t a death sentence for the game as those are two FPS juggernauts, and this is a relatively new franchise. We will keep you updated if more details for Titanfall 2 surface over the coming days.
